I have come across some blogs talking about our existence, simply just living, our faith and our standing with astrology.But what does this all mean? I read up on these blogs , I was intigured because they related to my subject matter. They also fit in well  with my discussion and are all quite interesting.

One of the posts which were made on this blog is titled Too Much Philosophizing and it encapsulated what this blogger is about. We wonder a lot about our existence and we have placed structures in our life to make life make sense. But this piece tells us to live in the moment sometimes and not just think about existing.

This blog looked at the existential crises which some of us put ourselves in. A place which is purposeless, futile and meaningless. We need to remember that we have been given choices in this life and we are responsible for those outcomes. We also have the power to live as we please.
The End or the Means: personal development and bettering the world

This blog focused more on the political and social problems which we find ourselves. One can choose to use their voice and be loud and bold or you could choose to be silent and bear the judgement and ridicule you will receive. Self-Determination can lead to the decolonisation of the mind, yourself and the people around you.

I put this blog to the list because of its simplicity and I believe that everything which this blogger is saying is true and I try to apply their words to my life every day.
Christianity is not a religion its a relationship

I did not choose to put this blog on this list because of my religious views. I put this here because of the experiences I have had with people trying to shove religion down my throat and people saying that my life will be more fulfilling if I become religious. Religion is an individual choice, it is not a collective decision, but a relationship which an individual has.

The Year I was born

I was ready to face the world in 1997, in a small village in the DRC. Being born into a country which has been known for violence and war since the 15th century, my mom wondered if there would be any joy in bringing a child into a world full of hopelessness and guns especially with 1997 having the First Congo War. My mother tells me the story surrounding my birth as very exciting but in very improvised circumstances.

The moment my maternal grandfather heard that I was born he dropped everything which he was doing and came to visit. Indulge me if you can, but my birth was the most anticipated one as I was not only the first born but I was also the first grand-daughter. However, let us not discuss the pressures which comes with that. Movie-goers were first introduced to Jack and Rose`s whirlwind romance in the first release of Titanic. J.K Rowling`s Harry Potter and the Philosopher`s Stone was first released in the UK, Men in Black was released and Pokémon was first aired.

South Africa a child of three years old was just starting to perfect its first steps into democracy. This was when my parents decided that we should move to South Africa as now it would become a stable country. Crossing over so many borders, not being sure of where exactly you are going. Arriving destitute four months after my birth with neither of my parents working and staying in a refugee camp. Peace was in sight and staying in the DRC at that time would be a risk which my Dad would not allow. During this time of despair, the beloved People`s Princess, Diana, Princess of Wales died in a car accident.

Mike Tyson, one of the best American boxers in the 20th century, is suspended from boxing for biting Evander Holyfield`s ear during a tournament. It seems to me that this was rather a fight to the death for Tyson and my parents still talk about this to this day. Women on the other hand were winning awards at the Billboard Music Awards, like Mariah Carey, The Spice Girls and Celine Dion, so women thank you for putting your talents to good use.
For me to have been born in the middle of a war, my parents struggling to make ends meet at this time makes me a person with quite a character. The year of my birth has influenced me in so many ways. I believe that because are given choices in this world. You could stay between a rock and a hard place and become complacent and remain hopeless. But you could also choose to take a leap of faith and become stronger because of that decision. My Dad has always encouraged me to run to opportunities which come my way and to speak out against injustice and I do believe that this is part of the reason for me being a feminist. I am an angry Black woman but hope has always been a star which I have followed even in 1997.
